Should Domestic Violence Act be continued?

Domestic violence is not new in India. We have all heard about Sita’s Agnipareeksha and also her exile. We also have heard about Draupadi Vastraharana in front of her own husband and host of relatives. Right from Satya yuga to present 21st century, women has faced torture from womb to tomb. It may be in the form of female foeticide, dumping of girl child, child abuse, eve teasing, rape, dowry torture, sexual harassment at work places, dowry torture, wife beating, Sati and so on. This list is endless.

So, in a country like India Domestic violence act is necessary. It is the same country where we worship women as Devi Durga, Radha Rani, Laxmi, Saraswati and many more. But, in most of the house hold, in the same courtyard women are being mercilessly tortured. She is respected only when she makes sacrifices according to her in-laws. There are some exceptions no doubt. But, Domestic Violence act is necessary for the time being.

There be a doubt that the fault may of the daughter-in-law as well. Very true...but, than if we make a comparative analysis, we will see that crime report against women particularly at domestic front is more than towards men. The difference is well understood when we see that in our country where for remarriage of a widower there is public sympathy, BUT FOR WIDOW REMARRIAGE WE NEED AN ACT!

Absolutely. Why not? The Domestic Violent Act might have been abused by a few women, but that has indeed deterred far more men from abusing their wives. It is good for women.
